Why we talk about giving

We talk openly about giving because Jesus calls His followers to a whole‑life devotion—one that includes how we steward what He has entrusted to us.

At Devoted Church, generosity isn’t about obligation or pressure. It’s about worship, trust, and alignment. Giving is a significant way we learn to loosen our grip on what we own and place our confidence more fully in God.

If you’re new here or still exploring faith, there is no expectation that you give. You are welcome to belong, to ask questions, and to walk with us at your own pace.

Giving is not a condition for belonging.
It is a pathway of discipleship for those who belong to Christ – and an overflow of our hearts as we respond to God’s presence.

Sacrificial love & generosity

One of our core values is Sacrificial Love & Generosity.
We believe healthy disciples don’t follow Jesus with words alone, but with time, talent, and treasure—offered freely and joyfully.

Generosity shapes us. It reorders our loves. It trains our hearts to trust God rather than money, comfort, or security.

What we believe about tithing

We teach tithing as a meaningful and biblical practice for believers—setting aside the first portion of what God has given as an act of worship, trust, and priority.

Scripture speaks of bringing our resources before God not reluctantly or under pressure, but as a response of faith:

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.
Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

Malachi 3:10 (NIV)

At the same time, the New Testament is clear about the posture of giving for followers of Jesus:

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV)

For us, this means:

  • The tithe serves as a baseline practice of trust and worship
  • Generosity often grows beyond that as the Spirit leads
  • Giving is never meant to be forced, hidden, or used as leverage

We will never track, shame, pressure, or pursue people about giving.
We teach it because we believe it is good for the disciple.

How we express generosity

We want it to be clear that giving at Devoted Church is about participating in God’s mission and using our resources as a form of worship.

Your generosity helps us:

  • Care for people within the church through hospitality, shared meals, and meeting tangible needs
  • Serve our local community through monthly service projects, supplies, and feeding the hungry
  • Support international mission work that shares the gospel and acts as Jesus’ hands and feet across the world
  • Operate with integrity by covering essential administrative and legal responsibilities

In every case, giving is directed toward people, presence, and mission—locally and globally.

We believe the gospel addresses both spiritual and physical needs, and we seek to honor Christ by engaging both.

This balance reflects our desire to be generous both near and far, caring for those among us while actively participating in God’s work beyond us.
